Ramiro is a scientist at the Center for Applied Chemistry (CIQA) in Saltillo, Mexico. CIQA is a world-class teaching and research facility specializing in chemistry, polymers, materials, biotechnology, environment, and natural resources.

Having originally studied at the Universities of Coahuila (Mexico) and Strasbourg (France), he completed his chemistry doctorate in France in 1990. He also has a Master in Technology Commercialization from the University of Texas and a Master in Administration from the Iberoamericana University.

Ramiro became a Member of Mexico’s National Research System in 2001 and served as Head of the Polymer Chemistry group at the Centro de Investigación en Química Aplicada, a Center of CONACYT (National Council of Science and Technology) from 2005 to 2007.

He is the Founding Director of Inova, an initiative dedicated to accelerating the regional innovation process. He is also founder of the Polymer Technology Network, promoting open innovation to improve technology transfer and commercialization in Mexico.

Ramiro’s research currently focuses on advanced polymerization techniques and the design of polymer structures for nanomedicine and energy storage. He has been a visiting professor at The Polymer Science Institute of the Akron University/Dow Chemical and is a frequent visitor to many of the leading polymer laboratories in Europe.
